A short update. Searching for soldering flux all over the eastern part of the country. Was told that it was "sold out" at multiple places... someone must be building a huge project. Anyway, on my team mate's suggestion, we went to the nearest Giant hypermarket to look for soldering flux. Sure enough, we couldn't find it there. Then he decided to ask the employees - who could only speak in Mandarin - but my team mate was Indian.
That's where I stepped in and tried to explain my situation.
"What are you looking for?" (in Chinese)
It obviously didn't go very well! When we finally left our futile search at Giant, my team mate told me with his most certain voice, "Your Chinese sucks!"
"How do you expect me to say 'soldering flux' in Chinese? Why not you tell me how do you say 'soldering flux' in Tamil?"
So, I learned about "ċİçċ" today.
