Campagnolo Record Ergopower levers tuning (part 3)

Tuned left lever, before dremelling (not pictured): 138.5g
Tuned right lever, before dremelling: 139.2g.

The first unnecessary part was this groove where the hood is supposed to be held. I used the other such grooves as reference points for where I should grind.

Left: before dremelling. Right: after dremelling. Notice the reduced front and side profiles.

Left: after dremelling. Right: before dremelling. I introduced some concavity to fit my middle finger... an ergonomic consideration, and at the same time ground the plastic to the same depth as the recess meant to hold the hoods in place.

Left: before dremelling. Right: after dremelling. I removed the additional material meant for holding the hoods in place, as usual.

End products for today.

Tuned left lever: 135.4g.

Tuned right lever: 135.7g.

Oh by the way, I know the shapes look quite horrible at present. I can't get anywhere near perfection with my dremelling technique. I'll be sanding them down further with sandpaper to get the final shape. I actually ground some parts to their metal inner structure... which is scary because all of a sudden the sparks would fly - and the ventilation on the tool just sprays them at me - and on reflex, I'd close my eyes, with the tool on, right next to my fingers. But anyway, if you've noticed them - I'll probably fix them with permanent marker or some epoxy. We'll see.

I mentioned in my previous post that some people must have cheated in making the claimed weights of their parts. As you can see, the savings are considered pathetic, even though I spent the whole afternoon slowly crafting it, and taking the pain of melted plastic flying into my face and the risks of flying disc cutters; and ground it to the bone.
