By the way, the navigation bar is faulty. I've been trying to write the javascript to add/remove the 'current' class for the past hour. Don't know what's wrong. Meh.
Update: I've sped up the site's loading time to 5.60s for a 1.44 Mbps connection - CSS on top, java below, compressed scripts, "read more" function to cut down on homepage images. Implemented LaTeX math package on the whole site - works for comments as well. Still working on the navigation bar... can't think of how to categorize things. I hate blogger's comment system, maybe I'll do something about it. I know the footer for each post looks silly too, so I'll be reworking that as well.
Update 2: What an admissions massacre.
Update 3: Let me try take down the LaTeX for a while.
Update 4: I've put up LaTeX again. The site was taking longer to load from the mathTEX and javascript servers separately. I'm now using OpenMath's cgi-bin and the javascript is part of the page source. (a crude solution... I don't like editing a long HTML template) Thanks, OpenMath.org! Now the site's loading time has been reduced to 5.38s. (: Let's try a mathematical pickup line...
